“Kingdom Hearts 3” is looking more and more a contender for game of the year in 2019. And judging by the latest Famitsu charts, a lot of people agree that the next installment of the franchise can snatch the title.
A few weeks ago, “Kingdom Hearts 3” dominated the Famitsu leaderboard after it knocked “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” from the no. 1 one spot. However, “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” overtook the third installment of the franchise recently and sat at the chart's zenith last week, Gaming Bolt reported.
But now, “Kingdom Hearts 3” has once again taken the top spot of the Famitsu leaderboard as the game inches toward its release. And with all the gameplay footage being released by Square Enix, it comes as no surprise that “Kingdom Hearts 3” is at the peak once again.
What’s fueling the popularity of “Kingdom Hearts 3” isn’t just the nostalgia spurred by the upcoming installment in the hearts of the fans. True gamers know that nostalgia can only get a game so far.
What makes “Kingdom Hearts 3” truly special is the number of details that Square Enix has placed in the game. Its map alone is so vast that it encompasses a multitude of worlds set in the Disney universe. From the freezing regions of “Frozen” to the verdant lands of “Tangled,” the next installment of the franchise will have Sora, Goofy, and Donald travel through all of it to battle the Heartless and its leader.
The gameplay of “Kingdom Hearts 3” is also another reason for the fans’ eager anticipation. Square Enix has included a verticality in the game that hasn’t been seen in the franchise before. This verticality adds more depth and dimension to a player’s immersion, creating a world that is both fresh and engaging.
Add the fact that players will get the chance to interact with iconic Disney characters and the game is looking to be quite the cash cow for the gaming studio. Indeed, fans of the franchise have already preordered the game and voiced their excitement on several multimedia platforms. One would only look at the comment section of the trailer for “Kingdom Hearts 3” to gauge how much fans are looking forward to the game’s release. Square Enix announced that this third and final installment will hit the shelves on Jan. 29, 2019.
