Kia Corp. unveiled the all-electric EV9 flagship SUV, the second model equipped with Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated EV platform, called E-GMP, ahead of its domestic launch in the second quarter.
The EV6 SUV, launched in 2021, is Kia’s first model equipped with the E-GMP.
According to Kia, the three-row electric SUV has a 99.8 kWh battery and can go more than 500 kilometers on a single charge.
In the second half of this year, Kia intends to gradually introduce the EV9 to markets in the Americas, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
With the Kia Autoland Gwangmyeong plant, located just south of Seoul, the business plans to build about 100,000 vehicles of the new model per year for international sales.
Later this year, Kia intends to expand its array of electric vehicles by introducing the EV9 GT-line and the sporty EV9 GT models. To satisfy a variety of customer preferences, the GT-line model incorporates the performance GT model's design.
