Last week, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were told by the L.A. County Superior Court to submit the necessary paperwork for their divorce case otherwise it will be dismissed. Camps from both sides have been quiet about the reason for the delay. That is, until now.
The reason why Jennifer Garner has yet to provide the court with the proper documents is that she wants Ben Affleck to work on his health and sobriety. Last year, the “Justice League” actor shared his struggles with alcoholism and how he’s slowly conquering his addiction to the substance.
And with him celebrating his birthday today, an insider who spoke with People said that Ben Affleck is “in a good place.” Jennifer Garner’s ex-partner has been receiving treatment for his addiction and incorporated yoga and meditation into his daily regimen to keep him from relapsing.
The “Alias” alum said that she wants Ben Affleck to be the best father he can be before they finalize the divorce. A source from Us Weekly (via Jezebel) said that Jennifer Garner is giving the actor the chance to get his act together to prove that he’s taking his recovery from his alcoholism seriously.
While it may seem that Jennifer Garner is merely delaying the divorce case because of her children, her relationship with Ben Affleck has always been genuine, even after they separated back in 2015. They’ve been looking out for each other and are co-parenting their children together, putting aside their differences to keep their kids happy.
Jennifer Garner even made a tribute post to Ben Affleck on Instagram for Father’s Day, saying that their children are lucky that they have a father like him. The “Elektra” actress has always been a class act, on- and off-screen. And that goes for the “Batman” actor as well.
It’s a shame that Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have separated but their decision was a mature one, parting ways in an amicable manner. As for the divorce case, it seems that it will be delayed after all since the case review is scheduled for this Friday already.
