As a professional figurehead in the lighting industry, Jan has been instrumental in discussing the ‘today and tomorrow’ of lighting, in his role as both President of Global Lighting Association and LightingEurope, as well as Chair of the General Assembly of Zhaga. Jan was one of the people to initiate founding Zhaga in 2010, because the introduction of LED lighting required new ways of creating standards.
Jan has been a fountain of knowledge, offering a credible insight into the industry’s core trends, engines for future growth and the challenges that lie ahead for the lighting industry. Zhaga member companies have been privileged to use Jan’s extensive knowledge of the industry, combined with market feedback, and our strategy masterplan to steer the direction of the New Zhaga.
During the September General Assembly meeting in Vienna, Osram’s Giovanni Scilla gave a farewell speech on behalf of all Zhaga members, thanking Jan for his ‘inspiration, coaching and guidance over the life of the Zhaga consortium.’
Leaving Zhaga, Jan said ‘The extended mission of Zhaga to deliver interface standards that enable serviceability and upgradeability is a great contribution to circular economy and to the global lighting industry, and it has been a pleasure to Chair the General Assembly for Zhaga.’
Zhaga is now currently seeking a successor to Jan to act as Chair of the General Assembly of Zhaga.
