Another season means another villain for “Iron Fist” season 2. But what’s more intriguing once the show returns is the possibility of Danny Rand (Finn Jones) fighting the villain Davos (Sacha Dhawan) without the Iron Fist mantle.
“Iron Fist” is a Netflix original series based on Marvel’s comic series of the same title. It follows the titular superhero in using his strength to fight crimes in New York City while also making sure the Iron Fist mantle avoids ending up in the hands of the wrong people.
However, in “Iron Fist” season 2, Davos comes in to insist that Danny is the right person to have the powers. In the official trailer Netflix released on Thursday, Davos is seen approaching Danny about some “family matters to discuss.”
The friendly approach can be explained by the fact that Danny and Davos used to train together before the latter lost his right to the Iron Fist mantle. He appeared in several episodes of season 1 where it was made clear that all he wanted in life is to inherit the Iron Fist. Being Lei Kung’s son, he further believed that no one should receive the mantle other than him. This is apparently some unfinished business on Davos’ part and the main reason of his return in “Iron Fist” season 2.
Before the “Iron Fist” season 2 trailer ends, Danny is seen tied up after being kidnapped by Davos’ men. Later, the two are seen in an action-packed fighting sequence but Davos is the one with the glowing Iron Fist power. It will be an interesting arc to follow how Danny would defeat Davos and retrieve the Iron Fist.
Meanwhile, Danny’s personal struggles will continue in “Iron Fist” season 2. At the beginning of the trailer, Colleen (Jessica Henwick) is raising her concerns over Danny’s developing pattern. Colleen says Danny is rarely home and when he is, the titular hero rarely sleeps. Danny only gives a dry response, saying he just wants to keep the peace in NYC.
At the end of the trailer, a lighter scene is previewed where Danny tells Colleen that they should go on date nights more often. “Iron Fist” season 2 starts streaming on Netflix on Sept. 7.
