BOSTON, Oct. 04, 2017 -- Risk Strategies Company, a privately held, rapidly growing national insurance brokerage and risk management firm, today announced the hiring of industry veteran, Scott Popilek, to oversee regional operations in its Florida market, one of the company’s fastest-growing geographies.
Popilek has spent his entire professional career in the Florida market, with extensive experience in sales, new business development and operational management, both at large and mid-sized brokerages in the state. His responsibilities have spanned from producer recruitment and development to practice management, sales and operations leadership, budgeting and financial management. Popilek has worked across a broad spectrum of clients, including of varying organizational sizes, industries and risk management needs, including large private and public companies.
“As a company, we’ve made a strategic commitment to the Florida market,” said Risk Strategies Company President, John Mina. “Scott has the right mix of experience and personal attributes to help us build a seamless state operation that delivers on the promise of superior expertise and service.”
Risk Strategies entered the Florida market in 2016 with its acquisition of marine insurance specialist, Atlass Insurance Group, followed by the acquisition of Miami-based Kahn-Carlin. At year’s end the company acquired one of the largest independent agencies in South Florida, Advanced Insurance Underwriters, headquartered in Hollywood, FL. The company further grew its Florida presence in September through the acquisition of Anderson & Jacoby Insurance Consultants, a Miami-area firm focusing on property and casualty risk management services.
“It’s exciting to join a dynamic company known for deep technical expertise and high-touch client service,” said Popilek. “I have extensive, first-hand knowledge of this market and its needs, so I see a real opportunity to map my experience and skills into a winning strategy for Risk Strategies.”
With a master’s degree in accounting and tax, Popilek has developed and implemented a variety of alternative structure insurance programs, including both onshore and offshore captive insurance companies. In previous positions, he has also conducted acquisition, due diligence and audits of retail offices. Popilek is a graduate of Stetson University in Deland, Florida.
