Hyundai Motor Co. had equipped its all-new Kona subcompact SUV with Eco Coating, a new indoor air purification technology that coats the vehicle’s air conditioner evaporator with harmless microbes.
These microbes biologically purify unpleasant odor-causing gas ingredients, such as volatile organic compounds that can either enter the vehicle from outside or be generated inside.
The Ministry of Environment, the Korea Institute of Toxicology. and the Green Product Evaluation Organization in India has verified Eco Coating, according to the carmaker.
The South Korean carmaker also equipped the Santro, a city car model targeting the Indian market, with Eco Coating.
Hyundai will expand the application of the Eco Coating technology to a wider range of models.
