Hybe Co., Ltd., the managing agency of the BTS superstar K-pop boy group, accused the executives of one of its sub-labels, ADOR, of breach of trust. The company alleged that its affiliate's chief executive officer, Min Hee Jin, plans to make ADOR, which manages the NewJeans girl group, an independent label.
Based on the reports, Hybe supposedly learned about the plot after launching an audit into the sub-label on April 22. Now, the company is preparing to file complaints against the executives involved. It would charge them with breach of trust and other offenses.
A Call to Resign and Evidence
In a statement sent to CNBC, Hybe said it had already requested Min step down as ADOR's chief. The entertainment company further told the publication it acquired substantial evidence against the CEO related to her alleged plans to take control of ADOR.
Hybe said the proofs in its hands include detailed discussions that Min ordered the sub-label's management to find ways to pressure Hybe into selling the label's shares. The company also sent a screenshot of the alleged message between Min and the vice CEO of ADOR.
Hybe Reports Min Hee Jin to Police
Hybe said earlier that it would report Min Hee Jin to the police as it has found enough evidence to charge her with several offenses. According to Korea Joongang Daily, the company's action came three days after it started the audit on ADOR.
With everything Hybe said against the ADOR chief, she denied every offense pinned against her. She also accused the company of copying the concept of NewJeans and applying it to a girl group of another Hybe sub-label.
Meanwhile, the company troubles happened when NewJeans was preparing to make a comeback. Hybe's CEO, Park Ji Won, apologized and said they would ensure their artists were not affected by the issues.
"We promise to prioritize the mental recovery and emotional stability of our artists, who are the most precious assets in K-pop, now that the situation has settled for the time being," he said.
