There is another hiatus currently in place before the release of “Hunter x Hunter” chapter 391. And it is speculated that the announcement of new chapters will not happen until March.
After the release of chapter 390 in late 2018, series creator Yoshihiro Togashi confirmed they would impose another months-long break. He did not specify when the “Hunter x Hunter” chapter 391 will be out. But, he did confirm that “the storyboards for the next ten chapters are already done.” Togashi has been taking these long breaks in consideration of his health.
This has led fans to speculate that the release date window for “Hunter x Hunter” chapter 391 and the following chapters will be similar to what happened in 2018. Redditor u/HunterYuyuMoon suggested the possibility of having two sets of new chapters to be dropped this year.
“Hunter x Hunter” chapter 391 is expected to be announced in March and will be followed by new releases until May. Then, the same manga fan suggested that another hiatus will ensue before the next chapters are out sometime in the fall season or sometime in October.
Even though Togashi only mentioned the storyboards for “Hunter x Hunter” chapter 391 and the following nine chapters, the Reddit user expects there will be a total of 20 chapters to be released this year; this was the same case in 2018.
The title of chapter 390 suggests that “Hunter x Hunter” chapter 391 will be a continuation of the latest events where Hinrigh, Lynch Fullbokko, and Zakuro Custard clashed with some members of the Heil-Ly clan.
Meanwhile, even though “Hunter x Hunter” chapter 391 is most likely going to feature another fight sequence, the same prediction post suggested that the “main event” will not happen until chapter 400.
If the speculations about the number of chapters to be released this year are correct, fans will possibly get to witness that epic battle. Once the manga series returns this year with “Hunter x Hunter” chapter 391, it will proceed to the Succession Contest arc, which started back in chapter 349 that was released in June 2016.
