One of the most popular manga series in the world is once again on hiatus, at least, for the entire month of December. Though official release dates are yet to be announced, fans are expecting new chapters to arrive next month/year starting with “Hunter X Hunter” chapter 391.
The latest installment released was the 390th chapter of the series, which came out last month. But instead of “Hunter X Hunter” chapter 391, that was immediately followed by an announcement from series creator Yoshihiro Togashi about another necessary break.
“Hunter X Hunter” chapter 390 was released in the Weekly Shonen Jump #52 in November. Unfortunately, it also came with a news about the latest hiatus. “The storyboards for the next ten chapters are already done, so I'll get started again soon depending on various circumstances such as my health,” Togashi wrote in the author’s comment section. This means that the earliest possible release date for “Hunter X Hunter” chapter 391 is sometime in January 2019.
Meanwhile, fans must be patient, considerate and let Togashi take the time he needs for the sake of his health before aggressively demanding the release of “Hunter X Hunter” chapter 391. The series has experienced several long gaps over the years as far back as 2006. In 2014, it was reported that Togashi’s work is being affected by a health issue causing him to experience severe back pain.
Earlier this year, Togashi also admitted to sometimes thinking about ending the manga series. But he believes that there is still room for him to continue telling its story.
“‘Hunter X Hunter’ as it is now has a lot in it that makes me want to keep on reading, even from my own perspective as a reader. And from my perspective as a writer, there are still many things in it left that I want to write, that I would enjoy writing,” Togashi explained (via ComicBook). So rest assured that the series will not end in “Hunter X Hunter” chapter 391.
