The sixth month of 2019 is close to an end without any solid update about the release of “Hunter x Hunter” chapter 391. The wait is taking a toll on some fans leading them to believe that no new installments will arrive this year while others opt to remain positive.
The recent chatter about the return of the manga with “Hunter x Hunter” chapter 391 was fueled by the release of an updated hiatus chart on Reddit by u/HunterYuyuMoon. On a glance, it seems like the breaks — which the original poster cleverly dubbed the Great Hiatus Arc — has already taken up more space than the actual story arcs released since 1998. It forced some long-time fans to relive the stress of waiting for new installments in the Chimera Ant arc that started in early 2004 and concluded in the second half of 2011.
Now, some fans are preparing themselves not to see “Hunter x Hunter” chapter 391 and other new installments in 2019. Meanwhile, others are rebuking such attitude and want to stay positive that good news is waiting ahead. Some are even making a wild guess that the new chapters will start to be released in summer.
The same Redditor that posted the chart also speculated that “Hunter x Hunter” chapter 391 would be released in spring and that 2019 would also have up to 20 new chapters just like last year. Unfortunately, “Hunter x Hunter” chapter 391 was a no-show in the last six months. If there is any chance for there to be more than 10 new installments, the next chapter must be released soon.
The hiatus before “Hunter x Hunter” chapter 391’s release is nothing new. The long breaks, which started in 2006, is mainly caused by the illness that series creator Yoshihiro Togashi has been suffering from for years. The reality of his health and the time it has been taking for him to work on the manga is a topic that Togashi is not avoiding. In an interview in 2018 (via YonkouProductions), the artist and writer said, “Sometimes I’m not sure which will expire first, the series or me.” But he added that he still has plenty of ideas he would love to write for the manga and he could only hope that the fans will still want to share that journey with him.
