Now that “FIFA 2020” is out, it’s time to compare the game to its rival, “PES 2020.” Since both titles are a football simulation, we’ll start with their respective gameplays.

To put shortly, “FIFA 2020” and “PES 2020” appears to have followed a similar approach when creating their game mechanics: realism. Both placed heavy emphasis on the nuances of learning the basics of passing, dribbling, spacing, and shooting.

Between the two, however, “PES 2020” edges the competition as it requires more focus to execute the proper plays correctly. Add the fact that the AI of this year’s iteration has been designed to assist players who take the time to learn the deeper mechanics of the game and the distinction becomes clearer.

PES 2020’s MyClub isn’t as frustrating as FIFA 2020’s card packs

What’s more, there are some players in “PES 2020” that has this sort of command aura to them that would spur AI to be more engaged in plays whenever they’re in the vicinity of that said player. This highlights the importance of playing on a given team’s strengths and the core of its roster, Polygon reported.

As for the comparison between MyClub and FUT, “PES 2020” also has the upper hand in this department given that the game is focusing more on player development rather than opening card packs. And speaking of card packs, it’s best not to spend money on “FIFA 2020” since there’s a huge chance that you’ll regret it in the long run.

PES 2020 will likely be the favorite this year but not by much

Research released by Canadian casino review site Casino.ca revealed that of the 1,003 participants that have been involved in the study, 50 percent of them regretted spending their money. What’s more, 65 percent of participants labeled the loot box mechanics as akin to gambling, 51.5 percent called it predatory, and 45.4 percent of them admitted that it’s addicting, CCN reported. With “PES 2020” having a more tamed approach on this aspect, there’s no doubt that a lot of gamers who are tired of EA’s questionable business practices will gravitate towards the title.

However, it’s important to understand that “PES 2020” and “FIFA 2020” offers a unique experience on their own and one isn’t necessarily the killer of the other. Indeed, the latter is offering more content than the former, and those who don’t want to spend on packs can simply opt not to. We’ll likely see a huge disparity between both games next year since the console wars will be starting by then.
