“House of Cards” season 6 is the final installment of Netflix's political drama. But it looks like Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) will still find time to make new enemies along the way and Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) is obviously one of them.
Netflix released the latest trailer for “House of Cards” season 6 about a month before it premieres. The two-minute video noticeably contains a lot of scenes with Doug building up the hype over his and Claire's rivalry.
Claire tells Doug that it is time for them to part ways as she becomes the first female President of the United States. Doug is naturally disappointed by Claire’s decision. He dedicated his whole life serving and cleaning up Frank’s (Kevin Spacey) mess. And in one snap of a finger, he loses that status now that Claire is in control in “House of Cards” season 6.
Knowing Doug, he wil not go down without a fight. He also has a lot of cards that can be used against Claire and Frank if he chooses to tarnish the latter’s legacy. As mentioned, Claire will be making a lot of disgruntled men angrier with a female sitting in the White House. This is likely Doug's next set of allies in “House of Cards” season 6.
On the other hand, the “House of Cards” season 6 preview also implies that Doug considers Claire his greatest fear. So it is interesting to see who wins in the dynamic of Claire and Doug’s rivalry in the final season.
Meanwhile, fans have also noticed that Catherine Durant (Jayne Atkinson) is also present in the “House of Cards” season 6. She may not be in the cutscenes but fans heard her voice in the background making some serious threats against Claire.
Catherine also has one great reason to get back at Claire. She surely will look for someone to blame for her hospitalization. And since Frank is dead in “House of Cards” season 6, Claire could be her narrowest target.
Before “House of Cards” season 6, Catherine was supposed to testify against Frank that would have led to his convictions. Frank seemed to like pushing people to their deaths — case in point: his lover, Chloe, in season 1. He pulled the same move with Catherine in season 5, which sent her to the hospital.
Claire will surely be facing a lot of scrutinies and will inherit many of Frank’s enemies in “House of Cards” season 6. New episodes are out on Nov. 2 on Netflix.
