“High School Musical 4” was officially confirmed three years ago, and while this made fans happy, disappointments followed when there is still no news about the film after waiting for so long. In fact, fans began to speculate that the fourth sequel is not coming anymore and stating that Disney already canceled its filming.
However, with Disney starting to release updates about “High School Musical 4,” the fans’ hope’s are high up again. Indeed, the movie is still coming, and here are the indications to prove it.
Cast
One of the indications is the announcement of cast members. Ahead of the “High School Musical 4” production, the company revealed the new cast of the well-loved school-themed musical. As posted, the lineup includes Joshua Bassett (Ricky), Olivia Rodrigo(Nini), Matt Cornett (E.J.), Dara Reneé (Kourtney), Sofia Wylie (Gina), Frankie Rodriguez (Carlos) and Larry Saperstein as Big Red.
It was also revealed that Jeffrey Hornaday had been assigned as “High School Musical 4” director. The rest of the main production staff, like the screenwriter and songwriting teams, would be the same.
Filming date and location
The filming date and location for “High School Musical 4” was also confirmed already. The details came directly from the school officials of the chosen filming site.
It was disclosed that “High School Musical 4” will start filming in the fall of 2020. The next sequel will be filmed at the North Penn High School (NPHS) as announced through The Knight Crier.
“This is so exciting for NPHS and the district! We have a long and distinguished tradition in the arts and drama and now, to have the honor of forever being connected to a musical about high school and it’s just amazing,” Mr. Pete Nicholson, NPHS principal, said.
Pre-production has begun
The most telling sign that “High School Musical 4” is coming is that it was reported that it had entered the pre-production phase already. The works started early this year, so there is no backing down now. With this progress, more details are expected to emerge as the actual filming date gets closer.
