‘High School Musical 4’ Confirmed in the Works; Zac Efron Open for Cameo Role and Other Confirmed Movie Details

High School Musical

“High School Musical 4” was first announced in 2016 but the movie only goes into pre-production this year. Thus, more details are now available, which also assured fans that the fourth film installment is coming.

It should be noted that the previous sequel was released in 2008 so there is a huge time gap. This is why fans should expect a very different “High School Musical 4” when it arrives in theaters. The plotline will be different, but it will feature the same vibes and atmosphere that the previous movies with Zac Efron and the gang had shown.

In other words, the “High School Musical 4” will relive the rivalry between the East High Wildcats and West High Knights but with changes. It was said that it would pick up 15 years from the last installment’s story and new sports and talents will be the highlight of the latest sequel.

One of the biggest change is the cast lineup as Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Vanessa Hudgens and more did not sign up for “High School Musical 4.” instead, Disney looked for people new faces who can play the roles in the movie well. The new cast lineup include Joshua Bassett (Ricky), Matt Cornett (E.J.), Sofia Wylie (Gina), Olivia Rodrigo (Nini), Kate Reinders (Miss Jenn), Frankie A. Rodriguez (Carlos), Dara Renee (Kourtney), Julia Lester (Ashlyn) and Larry Saperstein (Big Red).

But then again, Efron expressed willingness to appear in “High School Musical 4” for a cameo role so there is a possibility that he will be in the movie. On the other hand, Vanessa Hudgens said she is not interested since she is older now.

“I mean, I’m 28,” Vanessa Hudgens who is 30 years old now told E! News in 2017. “I could be a teacher, but I refuse to be a teacher! I’m still a teenager at heart. So probably not with me, but I’m excited to see what they whip together.”

Meanwhile, “High School Musical 4” will begin filming in 2020 as posted on North Penn Highschool’s official news site. The school has been confirmed to be the filming site of the movie, and it has already released an announcement for students to sign up to become extras in “HSM4.”
