As Halloween approaches, major fast-food chains, including Burger King, McDonald's, and Wendy's, amplify festivities with seasonal offers and creative initiatives.
McDonald's, renowned for its "Boo Buckets," serves its Happy Meals in plastic pails. While these buckets may not be substantial in size, they are popular collectibles among children. After several years of absence, the Boo Buckets are returning this year.
On the other hand, Burger King, under Restaurant Brands International, takes a food-centric approach. In previous years, they have introduced themed Whoppers, including the Halloween Whopper with its signature black hamburger bun.
During the 1980s and 1990s, McDonald's offered Halloween coupon books, allowing patrons to redeem various food items. The coupon book's value exceeded its price, making it a great deal for customers.
As for this year, McDonald's has yet to confirm if a 2023 Halloween coupon book will be available. Wendy's, which lacks a Halloween tradition of its own, plans to offer a similar product — the $1 Halloween "Boo! Books."
Each Boo! Book contains 5 coupons for free Jr. Frosty treats, alongside an additional coupon for a $1.99 Kids Meal with any purchase. Interestingly, these Boo! Books provide an alternative to giving out candy and support a charitable endeavor. Approximately $0.90 of every dollar spent on the coupon book will be donated to the Dave Thomas' Foundation for Adoption.
In the spirit of the spooky season, Burger King introduces the Ghost Whopper and Ghost Pepper Whopper. Moreover, the chain offers its BK Royal Perks loyalty program members an exclusive opportunity. Customers can vote on whether the limited-time menu addition should be the Ghost Pepper Whopper or the new Ghost Pepper Chicken Fries.
It is worth noting that this voting system is a first for Burger King. With no specified end date, customers can participate in the promotion through the chain's app.
Fast-food chains are gearing up for Halloween with their innovative offers and creative initiatives, whether McDonald's Boo Buckets or Wendy's Boo! Books or Burger King's spooky-themed Whoppers, these limited-time delights are set to entice customers during the festive season.
