WILMINGTON, Mass., Oct. 30, 2017 -- Security Innovation, the worldwide leader in application security training and assessment services, today announced that it will teach hundreds of security leaders at Hackfest 2017 in Quebec City, Canada to protect their organizations from cybersecurity attacks.
Attendees of Hackfest 2017 can meet 1-on-1 with the Security Innovation team by visiting its booth or emailing [email protected].
Security Innovation is partnering with Hackfest 2017 to provide attendees with two critical opportunities to up-level their application security capabilities:
CMD+CTRL Hackerthon training on Saturday, November 4:
- Security Innovation’s CMD+CTRL Hackerthon is an immersive, real-world environment that will provide attendees with the opportunity to grow their security knowledge via a fun and interactive simulation. This training teaches the importance of effective website security and secure coding habits. Leveraging cheat sheets and other easy to understand tips, participants of all skill levels will learn how hackers break into real-world ecommerce, HR, and banking websites.
- Led by Security Innovation’s Senior Security Engineer Geoffrey Vaughan, the session will include guided training, hands-on assistance and real-time scoring and reporting as teams compete to win prizes, including an R2D2 Robot build kit.
"Security Innovation is very proud to be hosting CMD+CTRL at Hackfest for the second consecutive year,” said Geoffrey Vaughan, Senior Security Engineer at Security Innovation. “We encourage everyone to participate – our Hackerthon approach truly brings training to a new level, delivering excitement, immediate gratification, and the long-term benefits of learning by doing."
Mobile Application Exploitation (iOS and Android) Training Oct. 31 through Nov. 2
Dinesh Shetty, Sr. Manager and Mobile Security Center of Excellence (CoE) lead at Security Innovation, will also be at Hackfest to co-teach Mobile Application Exploitation Training. The course is designed for beginners and advanced security enthusiasts, and will be based on exploiting Damn Vulnerable iOS app, Android-InsecureBankv2 and other real-world application vulnerabilities in order to provide in-depth knowledge about the different types of vulnerabilities in Mobile applications. After participating, students will be able to successfully pentest and secure applications running on various operating systems.
“Traditional learning about application vulnerabilities is a necessary, if mild-mannered, way to set a foundation for understanding of how to build securely,” said Lisa Parcella, Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at Security Innovation. “Investigating, breaking and attacking applications, as we invite participants to do in both of these sessions, is a knock down, no-holds-barred way to truly open your eyes to the implications of not building secure applications. Ultimately, the lessons learned are not soon forgotten.”
