Since Blake Shelton’s ex-wife, Miranda Lambert confirmed she got married, rumors that the “The Voice” coach and Gwen Stefani will also do the same went off the roof. However, it was reported that the pop singer’s former marriage with Gavin Rossdale is causing a major delay.
Stefani’s divorce from Rossdale has already been finalized in 2015 — the same year when Shelton and Lambert also officially ended their union. However, Us Weekly recently reported that Stefani would still want to have her previous marriage be annulled by the Catholic Church.
The “Sweet Escape” singer is known for giving huge importance to her faith, so this story may not come as a surprise to her fans. “Gwen’s religion has always been extremely important to her, and Blake is completely supportive of this,” a source of the same publication said.
At the time the story came out, the insider claimed that Stefani has already put in the papers to forward her request to the church. This way, she can reportedly continue her desire of marrying Shelton in a union that is also recognized by the church.
Fans around the world know that the Catholic Church’s teachings do not encourage dissolving marriages, but it is not entirely prohibited. The process is just reportedly more tedious and time-consuming, but the tipster added, “They’re willing to wait.” However, a representative of Stefani told Gossip Cop that the above story is “untrue” that could mean she does not have immediate plans in marrying Shelton.
Meanwhile, not being married will not stop Stefani and Shelton from treating their relationship as if they have a family to take care of. In various photos online, fans have seen that the country music star became very close to Stefani’s sons. A recent report from HollywoodLife even went as far as claiming that the former No Doubt vocalist’s sons are now looking up to Shelton as a father figure.
