The Google Pixel 3 launch event has been confirmed to be taking place in New York on Oct. 9, but the flagship smartphone’s specs and features are not exactly the best-kept secret this close to the release date because of all the leaks.
Reports have indicated that the Google Pixel 3’s glossy top section and matte bottom appearance look quite similar to that of the older Pixel 2 XL, although it is noticeably smaller and it doesn’t have a notch. The smartphone is also going to have an all-glass back unlike the metal and glass of the Pixel 2 XL.
The Google Pixel 3 will reportedly come with an 8-core Qualcomm processor (presumably the Snapdragon 845), an Adreno 630 GPU, 4GB of RAM, and it’s supposed to support wireless charging. There is no mention of storage capacity in the leaks, but 64GB is believed to be the minimum. The smartphone is also expected to come with some device-exclusive features like double tap to wake, squeezable sides, and the always-on display.
The one thing that isn’t clear at the moment is the Google Pixel 3’s screen size. But based on the leaked images, many believe it will either sport a 5.4-inch or 5.5-inch display. The phone’s display is listed as having a 1440x2960 resolution with a pixel density of 494ppi.
Meanwhile, the leaks indicate that buyers may have three or even four color options to choose from.
“So far, we’ve seen both black and white models of that phone in very official-looking marketing renders — so those two colors are all but confirmed,” Stephen Hall said in his report for 9to5Google.
“The teaser page for the Google Pixel that originated in Japan hinted at a third “mint” colorway, and further code found within the site suggested that a pink model might be on the way as well. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen any phones in either of those colors in the flesh — so that’s just speculation for now,” he added.
Despite all the leaks, tech enthusiasts still haven’t learned all there is to know about the Google Pixel 3. However, details may continue to emerge in the coming days so stay tuned.
