Google Korea is persuading Google Inc. to lower its planned 30 percent commission on in-app purchases amid complaints from local software developers over steep commission costs.
Representatives of the South Korean unit of US tech giant Google Inc. told members of the parliamentary committee on science and technology of their plans to lower the commissions rates.
Google will introduce the 30 percent commission in South Korea later this year.
The South Korean government projected that Google's new commission policy would increase in app store costs for South Korean developers by over 150 billion won.
Google's new billing policy faced fierce opposition from local tech groups and politicians.
