The Gap, Inc., a clothing retail company, announced the appointment of its new global chief marketing officer this week. Fabiola Torres, PepsiCo’s general manager and CMO and SVP of the energy category of the Hispanic business unit has joined Gap as marketing head.
Gap hired Torres who is a veteran in the business industry. She held senior leadership posts in other major companies including Nike and Apple. Her most recent job before Gap was with PepsiCo.
Assignment at Gap Company
Fabiola Torres will take over as chief marketing officer for the Gap unit of Gap Inc. Her role is very important now as the company is trying to revive its brand and make it one of the most sought-after brands once again.
Brand Innovators reported that the newly-appointed marketing chief will work under the leadership of Richard Dickson who became the company’s president and chief executive officer in July 2023 after leaving Mattel Inc. He now leads Gap’s leading brands including Old Navy, Gap, Athleta, and Banana Republic.
Joining a New Organization for Growth
On her move to a new company, Torres explained that she decided to embark on a new journey after working for PepsiCo for four years. She said she learned a lot in her short stint at the snack and beverage company.
“I couldn't have asked for a more exciting week to start as a Global Chief Marketing Officer at Gap, an iconic brand with a compelling history that celebrates individuality and self-expression for all generations,” Torress wrote on her LinkedIn page. I am looking forward to being a part of the next chapter of this brand, building its future and championing Gap’s amazing legacy.”
Meanwhile, before Gap recruited Fabiola Torres to be its CMO, the role had been vacant for about a year and a half. Previously, it was occupied by Mary Alderete, who left the company in November 2022.
