“Game of Thrones” Season 8 is already predicted to be an eight episode-long emotional rollercoaster ride and this is reinforced every time the cast talks about it. There are so many questions with regards to what will happen in the show’s final season. The incestuous relationship between Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) is one of the biggest, but a technicality might solve things.
As Esquire notes in its “Game of Thrones” Season 8 report, incest is usually considered illegal in the fictional land of Westeros. Children born between people who share blood are considered unworthy of inheriting anything. However, this rule does not apply to those of Targaryen descent. This was made clear in the books and the show, with the previous ruling dynasty being made up of members who reproduced with their own relatives.
This is why the relationship between Jon and Dany might be considered fine in the fictional universe, with the eventual revelation in “Game of Thrones” Season 8 not being as big of a deal as in real life. Many fans might still see the situation as wrong, but the technicality does make it easier to excuse in terms of the story.
On that note, “Game of Thrones” Season 8 seemed to have been designed to break the cast of the show. Kit Harington said so himself in a recent interview where he talked about the many times he and the others would cry during filming.
“The last season of Thrones seemed to be designed to break us,” the actor said. “Everyone was broken at the end. I don’t know if we were crying because we were sad it was ending, or if we were crying because it was so f**king tiring.”
“Game of Thrones” Season 8 is set to premiere on April. Fans are in for eight weeks of gut-wrenching drama, action, and devastation.
