‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is set to feature a bloody battle between Theon and his Uncle Euron as revealed in on-set photographs. Theon may emerge as the victor. Meanwhile, season 7’s director line-up has been leaked.
According to The Telegraph, new images teased that Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) is set to fight a bloody battle against his own uncle Euron (Pilou Asbæk), known to the Ironborn as the Crow’s Eye. Theon was last seen with his sister Yara (Gemma Whelan) as they sailed with Queen Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) following a surprising alliance.
Photographs from the filming set obtained by TMZ showed Theon going head to head with his uncle on a beach side as a group of soldiers watched nearby. At first, it seemed that Euron was getting the upper hand beating Theon until blood ran down his face.
However, in another photograph, things look to be going against the older Greyjoy as Theon retaliates. It may be that Theon will emerge as victor in the seaside battle.
Euron was alluded to in the first season but finally appeared in season 6, specifically in the episode “Home.” Euron returned to the Iron Islands following the War of the Five Kings.
In one of the episode’s most thrilling scenes, Euron confronted his older brother Balonon a rope bridge between two of Pyke’s towers one stormy night. Balon is Theon and Yara’s father and King of the Iron Islands. Euron threatened that Balon was old and must make way for a new King.
During the confrontation, Balon attacked him with a knife but only managed to slash his cheek. Euron then proceeded to throw his brother off the bridge and to his death.
With his brother dead and the Ironborn seeking to replace the old King, Euron staked his claim for the Salt Throne during the kingsmoot where his niece Yara was also vying for the title. Despite his admittance to killing Balon, he is crowned the new King of the Iron Islands. During the coronation ritual, Theon and Yara escaped with a fleet of island’s best ships to avoid getting killed.
Based on the new images leaked, it seems that the siblings may finally get their revenge and claim the Salt Throne back.
Meanwhile, a list of season 7’s directorial line-up has been leaked. According to Watchers on the Wall, directors Jeremy Podeswa, Mark Mylod, Matt Shakman, and Alan Taylor will take turns in helming the incoming season’s episodes.
‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is scheduled to premiere sometime in mid-2017. HBO’s multi-award winning fantasy series is based on George R. R. Martin’s bestselling novels of the same name and was created for the small screen by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.
