‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 may find Sansa betraying her brother Jon Snow in favor of forging a new alliance with Littlefinger. Meanwhile, actress Sophie Turner recently unveiled her shocking new hair color fueling more speculations of massive changes for the incoming season.
A new website launched by HBO may have hinted at a possible alliance between Sophie Turner’s Sansa Stark and Aidan Gillen’s Petyr Baelish a.k.a. Littlefinger. The website, named Game of Thrones Party, lets fans of the series vote on which characters they wanted to see partnering for the coveted Iron Throne by use of a presidential candidate style format.
As of the present, a Daenerys-Tyrion tagteam ranked the highest with 44% votes followed by a Jon Snow-Lyanna Mormont alliance with 28%. The Sansa-Littlefinger partnership ranked third with 26% votes. It is unclear whether the website reflects actual incoming alliances for season 7 of the critically-acclaimed fantasy-drama television series based on George R. R. Martin’s novels ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’.
The possible Sansa-Littlefinger union suggested that the Stark maiden may soon betray her own adoptive brother by switching sides in order to gain the power of the Seven Kingdoms. According to Digital Spy, the preceding season showed Sansa distancing herself from Petyr since he was the one responsible for marrying her off to the evil Ramsay Bolton.
However, she found herself calling in the Knights of the Vale without even telling Jon Snow. The Starks eventually won the battle against Bolton’s troops with Petyr’s help during the “Battle of the Bastards” episode.
Petyr soon proposes that he plans like to take Sansa as his bride to rule with him on the Iron Throne. Sansa shuts down Petyr’s declaration of love and walks away but only after hesitating for a moment. It may be possible that Sansa will reconsider his proposition and fight alongside him instead.
Sophie Turner, the actress who plays Sansa on the series, previously admitted during the show’s recent Comic-Con panel that she would like to see Littlefinger on the Iron Throne despite the mixed reaction from the audience. She alluded to the same thought during a separate interview with Variety.
She said, “She’s not getting the credit she feels she deserves, that Littlefinger would grant her with. He obviously wants her on the Iron Throne and him by her side – she doesn’t want that, but she wants recognition for the effort that she put in, in order to claim back Winterfell, because if it wasn’t for her, it wouldn’t have happened… So I think she’s seeing Littlefinger as a bit more trustworthy and more of an ally than she initially thought.”
Meanwhile, the 20-year old actress recently unveiled her new hair color on social media fueling more speculation that she would be channeling a Targaryen in the new season. The photograph posted on Cinema Blend showed Turner with blonde locks instead of her familiar red hair.
However, it was noted that Turner is a natural blonde and has gone six years on the show as a redhead. It may be possible that she’s only giving her hair a rest before filming season 7, which is expected to commence later this year.
‘Game of Thrones’ is a critically and commercially successful fantasy-drama series based on George R. R. Martin’s series of bestselling novels. It was created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and airs on HBO. The network renewed a seventh season for the series, which is scheduled to premiere in mid-2017 with a total of seven episodes.
