‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 finally released the official trailer ahead of the scheduled July 2017 premiere. The trailer showed Jon Snow, Daenerys, and Cersei claiming their respective thrones in Westeros. It also hinted at an impending war between the humans and the White Walkers.
According to Business Insider, the much-anticipated trailer for season 7 of HBO’s highly popular and critically acclaimed fantasy television series based on the novels authored by George R. R. Martin has finally been released.
The trailer showed Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) claiming their respective seats of power in various core locations in Westeros. According to the A.V. Club, the trailer was set to a haunting cover of the track “Sit Down” by James.
Jon took his seat in Winterfell as the King of the North, Cersei ascended the Iron Throne in King’s Landing as the newly crowned Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, while Daenerys claimed her rightful place in Dragonstone as the heir of House Targaryen. Dragonstone, a location yet to be explored fully in the series, is one of the Targaryens’ ancient strongholds and where Daenerys was born before being taken away for protection.
It was speculated that Daenerys will waste no time in taking the Seven Kingdoms as her own after finally landing in Westeros following her long journey across the ocean.
In addition to the impending battle between Jon, Cersei, and Daenery’s troops, the promo also hinted at an imminent showdown with the Night King and his army of White Walkers. The army of the undead have been preparing for their course of attack on the whole of Westeros in the past seasons. Season 7 will see winter finally befalling the fictional kingdom.
‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is expected to premiere on HBO on July 16, 2017.
