Amid swirling rumors, Samsung might exclusively use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in its Galaxy S25 series, potentially raising prices by 30%, as the Exynos 2500 faces delays.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Release Date Confirmed
While rumors about the Exynos 2500 have persisted for months, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 really has a release date, which is a big distinction between the two chipsets.
The disclosure has prompted speculation, according to WCCFTECH, that Samsung may be compelled to introduce the Galaxy S25 series with a single system on a chip (SoC), and that customers may be asked to pay an additional 30% to ensure their exclusivity.
3nm GAA Yields Delay Exynos 2500
Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, had earlier projected that Samsung's low 3nm GAA yields would delay the arrival of the Exynos 2500, causing the Korean firm to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 exclusively in the Galaxy S25 series.
Despite rumors that Samsung will announce its 2025 flagship range with the Exynos 2500 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, the company has not yet hinted at a debut date for its in-house system on a chip.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Costs 30% More
Taking everything into consideration, @yamazaki1812 claims on X that the Galaxy S25 might be much more costly, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 potentially costing 30% more.
Profits for Samsung can take a hit if the company decides to charge customers more or absorbs part of the price difference. But now we know that Qualcomm plans to produce two variants of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4—one with just Wi-Fi and another with a 5G modem included.
With all the power in Qualcomm's hands right now, the company might demand more money from Samsung to include the Snapdragon X80 modem in the Galaxy S25 series, which would drive up the price of every model even more.
Exynos 2500’s Release Date Still Uncertain
Even though Samsung has often said that its 3nm GAA technology has steady yields, the Exynos 2500's release date remains uncertain as we approach the final quarter of 2024.
