Officially, Rockstar Games has not yet recognized an existing video game development project for “GTA 6.” However, it remains to be one of the highly anticipated titles in the entire gaming industry.
Recently, Technobuzz suggested several factors why “GTA 6” is not likely going to be released soon. For one, it is not in Rockstar Games’ nature to launch titles for huge franchises within a very close period.
“Red Dead Redemption 2” will be released on Oct. 26 — almost a decade since its predecessor. Needless to say, the “Red Dead Redemption” and “GTA” series are both major franchises for Rockstar Games. Technobuzz suggests that it might hurt the marketability of “GTA 6” and “Red Dead Redemption 2” if these are going to be launched consecutively within a short span of time.
Another factor could be Rockstar Games’ resources. It is very likely that two separate teams have been working on “GTA 6” and “Red Dead Redemption 2” for some time now. However, video game companies like Rockstar Games tend to have one pet project for a certain period so as not to compromise the quality of the games by dividing the studio's focus.
Aside from building new games and sequel titles, Rockstar Games is also evidently big on post-launch content. For example, after five years, “GTA V” players are consistently getting new items and even expansion packs from time to time.
This very active support for new contents on “GTA V” can also be an indication that the studio is not yet on an all-hands-on-deck level of prioritization for “GTA 6.” If so, the title could not be released anytime soon.
So, when will “GTA 6” arrive? No one knows yet. But there was an earlier prediction from gaming industry analyst Michael Pachter telling GamingBolt, “Best case, ‘GTA 6’ gets announced in 2020 for a 2021 release.”
Aside from its release date, the game features included in “GTA 6” are still not known. However, some of the frequently rumored contents include the first-ever female protagonist, more airborne transport options, and the ability to travel across countries.
