Although a lot of gamers and even publications might not have realized it yet, Epic Games’ worldwide phenomenon of a Battle Royale, “Fortnite,” has transcended its origins. No longer just a typical popular game, it has become an event that the whole world can participate in. Every move it makes now has a ripple effect that can have a huge impact, including the in-game concert that DJ Marshmello is planning.
As The Verge reports, it would appear that the electronics music celebrity is set to perform an in-game concert in “Fortnite” on Feb. 2. Epic has yet to make this announcement official, as of writing, but the DJ will supposedly have a virtual appearance in the game’s location called Pleasant Park. Players can actually check the place out right now and see a stage assembled there.
Coming back to the main point, this is not the first collaboration of the DJ that involved “Fortnite.” In fact, he worked with hugely popular streamer Ninja in order to win a tournament last year. Now, he is coming back and he will be performing live with a virtual character in the game. This is actually quite fitting and is a good example of how much of a phenomenon “Fortnite” has become.
The music industry, sports, TV, and Movies, and of course, the entire internet has been affected by “Fortnite” in one way or another. Far from being stopped, the Battle Royale game just keeps on growing, both in player count and in influence. It has gotten to the point now where its seasonal changes have the potential to shake the world.
From giant purple cubes to a hovering ice sphere, it’s clear that Epic has discovered a formula for keeping “Fortnite” at the forefront of its players’ minds. This is to the envy of many other video game companies because it is so effective, it’s almost scary.
