Jordan fans can look forward to the summer 2025 release of the Air Jordan 3 “Lucky Shorts,” inspired by Michael Jordan’s college ritual for good luck. Meanwhile, Miami’s SoleFly joins forces with Jaime Jaquez Jr. to debut the Air Jordan 12 this holiday season, paying homage to Latino coffee culture.
Jordan Brand’s 2025 Lineup Brings the “Lucky Shorts” Jordan 3, Honoring MJ’s Iconic UNC Ritual
The 2025 lineup of Jordan releases promises a strong focus on retros, including the anticipated Jordan 1 ’85 Bred. Alongside these classics, several fresh designs are on the horizon, one of which is the Jordan 3 “Lucky Shorts,” recently revealed in first-look images.
The “Lucky Shorts” concept stems from a superstition that Michael Jordan developed during college. After leading the North Carolina Tar Heels to an NCAA Championship in 1982, Jordan believed his UNC practice shorts brought him luck, a ritual he maintained throughout his NBA career by wearing them under his professional uniform. The Jordan 3 “Lucky Shorts” reflects this homage with a colorway that nods to UNC traditions. Although the iconic “University Blue” is absent, the design incorporates similar tones like “Hydrogen Blue” on the eyelets and midsole. The shoe's base is crafted from “Summit White” leather, complemented by “Photon Dust” suede on the collar, eyelets, and overlays. A “Hydrogen Blue” Jumpman logo graces the heel, while a “Sail” midsole and “Photon Dust” outsole complete the look.
The Jordan 3 “Lucky Shorts” is expected to be released in summer 2025. It will retail for $200 in men’s sizes. Additional images and details will follow as the launch approaches.
SoleFly and Jordan Brand Unveil Coffee-Inspired Jordan 12 with Miami's Jaime Jaquez Jr.
In the meantime, SoleFly and Jordan Brand have announced a collaborative release for Holiday 2024, marking the first co-signed product for the duo this year. The Miami boutique, partially owned by Michael Jordan’s brother-in-law, has crafted several notable Jordan designs over the years, with this latest Jordan 12 inspired by Miami’s Latino coffee culture. The shoe features mocha-colored leather and cracked leather detailing, capturing the city’s vibrant cultural influences.
Miami Heat forward Jaime Jaquez Jr., one of the few NBA players with Mexican heritage, was selected to represent the shoe’s campaign, embodying the collaboration's cultural resonance. While SoleFly and Jordan Brand have yet to confirm an exact release date, the Jordan 12 is slated to arrive during the Holiday 2024 season.
