Mr. Joran Oppelt, the President of Interfaith Tampa Bay, delivered the main address on the importance of broadening the acceptance of all faiths.
Representatives and youth from St. Mary’s Lady of Grace Church, Unitarian Universalists of Clearwater, the Abrahamic Reunion (an interfaith coalition of Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths) and the Church of Scientology awarded youth from their churches who have shown dedication, care and interest in their churches and their religious duties.
The representative from the Church of Scientology, Rev. Patricia Harney introduced a young man, Dario Vidilli, from the Church of Scientology, who worked with the Scientology Volunteer Ministers preparing hygiene kits and supplies for hurricane victims of Hurricane Irma and helping to pass out food and ice to neighbors who were without power for a week after the storm.
“The Church of Scientology holds an important belief that one should, 'Respect the religious beliefs of others,' as stated by L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology’s Founder,” said Amber Skjelset – the Center Manager. “We are honored to support and work with other churches to encourage youth to be active in their communities.”
