‘Fifty Shades Darker’ actor Jamie Dornan explains why he chooses to ignore social media. He also admitted that he was looking forward for the cinematic trilogy to end.
According to CBS News, Dornan revealed that he is disinterested in social media. During an interview while promoting his upcoming full-feature films ‘Anthropoid’ and ‘The 9th Life of Louis Drax’, he admitted that he didn’t care much about life online.
Dornan said, "To be honest, I was very inactive on it in the last year… To delete my Instagram ... I had to email my publicist to get the password. Twitter I used to have a bit of fun with back in the day but I think I've tweeted twice in the last year.”
He added, "The more public interest in you, the more horrible people become… People start to say disgusting things about your family, about your children. What's the point?"
Dornan gained international fame for his role as Christian Grey on the erotic cinematic series based on E.L. James’ best-selling books of the same name. In the first film, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’, he is introduced as the charming and confident business magnate with a dark past. He is also secretly obsessed with BDSM.
Although the film received generally negative reviews, it achieved massive commercial success and broke several box office records. According to The Numbers, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ earned $570.98 million worldwide against a production budget of $40 million.
Dornan is set to reprise his role in the follow-up together with co-star Dakota Johnson, who plays his on-screen love interest Anastasia Steele. The two upcoming films ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ and ‘Fifty Shades Freed’ were filmed back-to-back between Canada and France under the direction of James Foley.
The 34-year old actor and model expressed relief at finally having the trilogy end saying, "It's satisfying to put an end to any job, I think, and to do two back to back, I think there's an element of relief that the work is done and you're happy with it.”
However, Dornan added that he would miss being with his fellow cast mates the most after production on the films end. According to Melty, he said, "I'll miss my friends the most. The people are like family to me, and suddenly I won't be seeing them as much, and that's kind of sad."
Dornan and Johnson are joined by Tyler Hoechlin, Kim Basinger, Hugh Dancy, Eric Johnson, Max Martini, Bella Heathcote, Marcia Gay Harden, Luke Grimes, and Rita Ora in the new cast.
‘Fifty Shades Darker’ is an upcoming drama and romance film scheduled to be released on February 20, 2017. It is intended as the second installment in the live-action adaptations based on E.L. James’ erotic novels of the same name.
