“Far Cry 6” is launching in the era of next-generation gaming, so it is understandable if most fans expected the PC systems requirements for the game would be on the higher end. However, Ubisoft has announced the needed technical specifications and the minimum needed to run the game on PC are not too demanding as once thought.
The minimum system requirements, however, will not let PC gamers enjoy the higher resolutions and frame rates that “Far Cry 6” can achieve. But having this option could let more players experience the new game.
The least requirement needed to play “Far Cry 6” on PC includes AMD Ryzen 3 1200 (3.1GHz) or Intel Core i5-4460 (3.2GHz). PC gamers will need a 4GB AMD RX 460 or Nvidia GTX 960 for GPU and at least 8GB RAM. While this setup will let fans play the game, the settings it can only target is 1080p at 30 FPS without ray tracing.
Four possible “Far Cry 6” performance settings can be achieved with higher PC specs. For 1080p/60 FPS, players will need AMD Ryzen 5 3600X or Intel Core i7-7700, 8GB AMD RX VEGA64 or Nvidia GTX 1080, and 16GB RAM. A higher resolution (1440p) at 60 FPS is also possible with the same RAM and similar Ryzen CPU or Intel Core i7-9700 and AMD RX 5700XT or Nvidia RTX 2070 Super.
“Far Cry 6” supports DirectX ray tracing if players have the right rig for it. To run the game at 1440p/60 FPS with ray tracing, the game needs AMD Ryzen 5 5600X or Intel i5-10600, 16GB AMD RX 6900XT, or 8GB Nvidia RTX 3070, 8GB video memory, and 16GB RAM.
Lastly, “Far Cry 6” can play in 4K at 30 FPS with DirectX ray tracing. PC gamers will need AMD Ryzen 7 5800X or Intel i7-10700k, 16GB AMD RX 6800 or 10GB Nvidia RTX 3080, and at least 16GB memory.
The standard storage space needed to play “Far Cry 6” is 60GB and Ubisoft recommends SSD for a better experience. But for the settings with ray tracing enabled, the developer suggests an extra 37GB of available space to accommodate the game’s HD textures. “Far Cry 6” will be released on Oct. 7.
