“FBI” and “Criminal Minds” by CBS are two similar shows in that they both exist within the crime drama industry and they involve officers trying to catch dangerous people. In “FBI” Season 1 Episode 3, the two TV programs have never been more like each other, which is not exactly a bad thing. However, it does make people think if “FBI” was somehow trying to ride the coattails of its psychological thriller counterpart.
As Carter Matt notes in its review of “FBI” Season 1 Episode 3 titled “Prey,” it is revealed that the suspect this time is a serial killer: So far, so “Criminal Minds.” However, it’s during the interrogation scene that things really turn more psychological than forensics, with Maggie (Missy Peregrym) trying to coax information out of the “unsub.”
Typically, the show ended with the killer getting carried away by their emotion and falling victim to their own mental issues. However, is this outcome enough to brand “FBI” Season 1 Episode 3 as a “Criminal Minds” wannabe? Of course, not.
This is simply the show changing course in order to not bore the audience with the same premise of fighting terrorism on a constant basis. In its coverage of “FBI” Season 1 Episode 3, TV Fanatic noted that the change of pace conveyed a good message that both Maggie and OA (Zeeko Zaki) have a wide range of skills. They are not simply there to catch one type of criminal, which would make “FBI” quite the boring show to watch.
Just as with “FBI” Season 1 Episode 3, viewers can watch the show on CBS at 9 p.m. every Tuesday. Those who missed the last episode can watch it on the site, as well. Unfortunately, access is limited only to a select few territories, so those outside the U.S. will need to find another resource.
