Euro area’s production in construction rises in September

Euro area’s production in construction rose on a seasonally adjusted basis in September. According to the first estimates from Eurostat, construction output was up 2 percent sequentially. In the prior month, construction had dropped 0.6 percent. On a year-on0year basis, production in construction rose 4.6 percent in September.

On a sequential basis, the headline rate was driven by building construction and civil engineering. Building construction was up 2.2 percent, whereas the latter recorded a rise of 1.8 percent. Among member states, France and Germany recorded the highest rises in production, whereas Slovenia recorded the largest fall.

On a year-on-year basis, civil engineering recorded growth of 4.8 percent, while the building construction saw a rise of 4.3 percent. Slovenia saw the highest rise in production in construction.
