Fans of the defunct Agent Carter TV series has episode 3 of Agents of SHIELD season 7 to thank for as they now know what happened to Margaret "Peggy" Carter, her love interest Daniel Sousa and SHIELD after the series ended.
Some fans get so attached to the characters of their favorite shows that it is not a surprise when they continue to wonder what happened to them long after the show has ended.
The finale of Agents of SHIELD is taking its viewers through the MCU history, not only mentioning characters but really going back to past events. This, to prevent aliens occupying the earth and are pursuing the aliens through the timestream.
Episode 3, Alien Commies from the Future!, has taken the SHIELD agents to 1955 where they fought against the aliens known as the Chronicoms who are trying to wipe out key agents of the SHIELD.
And, in the episode, we saw Enver Gjokaj reprising his role as Daniel Sousa, an important character in the Agent Carter that unfortunately only had two seasons.
The episode also had Agent Carter but it wasn't really Peggy as it was just Simmons pretending to be her.
It can be recalled, that in Agent Carter, which was set in the 1946 era, a romance between Peggy and Daniel Sousa was played out but basing on episode 3 of the Agents of SHIELD, that didn't seem to last as their union did not obviously end in marriage. Simmons only recognized Sousa as Peggy's partner.
But in that same episode, Sousa clearly still had feelings for Peggy as evidenced by how he took the time to smarten himself up before meeting her.
As for SHIELD, we find out that in 1955, it had no ties yet with the United Nations which was why it was vulnerable to Hydra infiltration.
We have to thank MCU for being so intertwined, TV shows and movies, that we are afforded a chance to explore its vast universe.
