The highlight of Epic Games Store’s holiday 2020 sale is not huge discounts. It is the lineup of games that can be acquired for free throughout December, and the list is rumored to include some popular simulation games such as “Tropico 5” and “Jurassic World Evolution.”
Epic Games Store to release more simulation games for free?
Epic Games Store kicked off its holiday sale this year by giving away “Cities: Skylines” for free on Thursday. Video game fans can download it without any cost until Saturday, Dec. 19, at 12 a.m. local time. That is an instant $11.99 saving, and players can increase that value if they are also interested in getting its DLCs. While those are not free, they are currently hugely discounted and only cost from $0.79 to $2.49.
Like in previous years, the Epic Games Store holiday sale also means a new game will be released each day for free download. The event runs through Dec. 31, so that means there are 14 more titles to join “Cities: Skylines.” A Reddit user shared some reports claiming that more simulation games are slated to be released for free through Epic Games Store this month. Tips through the German website MyDealz.de advised its readers that “Tropico 5” and “Jurassic World Evolution” could be released for free on Dec. 23 and Dec. 31, respectively.
Fans should take this with a grain of salt, but it is not strange for the Epic Games Store holiday freebies to get leaked before they are live on the platform. Note that the news about “Cities: Skylines” was also leaked on Reddit a day before the holiday sale started. It is also interesting that there seems to be a pattern in the types of games included in the holiday sale freebies this year -- “Cities: Skylines,” “Tropico 5,” and “Jurassic World Evolution” are all well-known simulation games.
Epic Games Store holiday sale and other free giveaways slated throughout December
Those who are not the biggest fans of simulation games might still want to check out Epic Games Store’s holiday sale. Many titles from different genres are currently available with huge discounts. Gaming fans will even find titles that were just released in fall 2020, like “Watch Dogs: Legion” and “Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla,” with substantial price reductions.
There are other AAA games released in earlier years that are also part of Epic Games Store’s holiday sale. “Red Dead Redemption 2” is priced at $30.15, instead of $44.99. “Civilization VI” has a much bigger discount reducing the cost by 75% setting its current price at $10.49 only.
