Ellen DeGeneres’ ‘The Ellen Show’ canceled from Australian TV as investigations on ‘toxic’ workplace continue

Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres has been appearing on the headlines lately due to the allegations that she created a toxic environment in her workplace. She was also accused of being a bully, racism and other negative actions.

Ellen’s issues with her staff

Ellen DeGeneres already apologized to her “The Ellen Show” staff when the news first broke out. She also promised that she would do everything to improve the atmosphere on the set and eliminate people who were abusing the members of the staff. So far, it was reported that few producers were already fired from their posts.

However, people were saying that DeGeneres herself is part of the problem. She is in fact one of the people that the staff has lots of complaints about.

She was described as a diva on the set and really difficult to handle when she is not in front of the camera. Portia De Rossi’s wife was also called “one of the meanest people alive” because of her mean attitude towards the people who work for her.

The cancellation of Ellen’s show

Now, as the investigation for the allegations continue, The Independent reported that “The Ellen Show” has been canceled on Australian TV. It was said that Ellen DeGeneres’ time slot will be vacated and given to “Desperate Housewives.”

Channel Nine will stop the broadcast of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” starting this week. The TV network will now play re-runs of “Desperate Housewives” that was previously being aired on Channel 7 when DeGeneres’ show was still occupying the 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. times slots.

The Daily Mail further reported that Channel Nine will also not air the new episodes that Ellen already recorded in her home. When the COVID-19 struck, the 62-year-old started to film in her $27 million mansion due to the lockdown. Now, these will not be aired anymore.

“In the end, they were running best-of iso compiles which we weren't contracted to acquire,” the spokesperson of the TV network stated.

Meanwhile, despite the cancellation on the Australian TV, Ellen DeGeneres is still set to return as host for “The Ellen Show” in its 18th season that will premiere in the U.S. in September.
