Major companies around the world seem to be catching the drone fever. Amazon, the retail giant, is developing drones for making package deliveries. Google is also making decent progress in its Project Wing, the home delivery drone program and so is Wal-mart.
World’s leading consumer drone maker, DJI Technology Co. headquartered in China, is preparing to open its first flagship retail store in a Shenzhen shopping center in December, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The store will have floor space of about 800 square meters (8,611 square feet), the Journal said, and will feature all DJI products, from entry-level to high-end drones, other gadgets like the Osmo robotic selfie stick, according to the company.
Inspire 1, DJI’s high-end professional drone, can cost over $4,000 depending on the type of camera and other features, while Phantom 2 priced at approximately $500 is relatively affordable.
With the flagship store, the company aims to attract more consumers who aren’t yet familiar with drones to play with them and make them interested in the new technology.
“We want more people to see and touch our products,” a DJI spokesman told the Journal.
In an email to NBC News, DJI confirmed that the store would open in "mid to late December” and did not disclose much of further details.
