The popular Japanese Science-themes anime “Dr. Stone” is returning for its second season. This animation has been adapted from a manga series of the same title, and it was written by Riichiro Inagaki.
It was first released in March 2017, and the chapters are published every week in Shueisha’s Weekly Shone Jump. It was adapted to animation by TMS Entertainment, and the first season was released in July 2019 and run until December of that same year.
Just a few weeks after the first season of the anime ended, TMS Entertainment announced that “Dr. Stone” season 2 is coming. The confirmation was done through the release of a trailer that also revealed the new arc’s title, which is “Stone Wars.”
The cast and storyline
When the second installment of “Dr. Stone” arrives, fans will still see the same cast members. The viewers have come to love the characters as they were portrayed really well. It was reported that all the voice actors who participated in the first season are all returning to reprise their roles and they are: Yūsuke Kobayashi (Senku Ishigami), Gen Sato (Chrome), Kengo Kawanishi (Gen Asagiri), Yuichi Nakamura (Tsukasa), Manami Numakura (Kohaku), Kana Ichinose (Yuzuriha Ogawa) and Karin Takahashi as Suika.
As for the plot of “Dr. Stone” season 2, it was already revealed through the newest teaser that the “Stone Wars” arc is about the battle between Tsukasa’s empire and Senku’s group of Science believers.
The title for the first episode of the upcoming “Dr. Stone” was also posted, and it reads: “Kingdom of Science! All forces advance!” It is clear that there will be a war between those who use science and those who don’t in their everyday lives or in about just anything.
Tsukasa’s empire will be relying on strength and perhaps, traditional tools, to fight with Senku’s team while fans already know that the latter has built many items like weapons and gadgets that will help them in battles against their enemies. Furthermore, it was also suggested that Senku is set to build a new civilization through his scientific powers.
Release Date
Finally, based on the tweet of the anime’s Japanese site, it was revealed that the new season of “Dr. Stone” is set to premiere on January 2021. In the shared poster, they did not indicate a specific date, so fans have to wait for a new announcement.
