‘Doctor Strange’ released a new sneak peak video that explored other major characters such as Mads Mikkelsen’s evil Kaecilius. Concept art as well as behind-the-scenes footage were also released.
According to Screen Rant, a new exclusive featurette entitled “Open Your Mind” was recently released by Marvel Entertainment ahead of the film’s scheduled premiere for November 2016.
Scott Derrickson’s upcoming standalone film for the Marvel comic book character Doctor Strange is set to feature Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role. He is joined by Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, Benedict Wong as Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, and Michael Stuhlbarg as Nicodemus West.
The new sneak peak video did not focus on Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme but instead explored the other major characters – both heroes and villains. According to io9’s Gizmodo, new concept art of Mikkelsen’s Kaecilius was also shown as well as exclusive behind-the-scenes footage. It also teased the antagonistic Zealots, people that turned to the dark side.
Producer Kevin Feig said in the sneak peak, “We’re excited about the villains in this film.” This fueled previous speculation that there may be other antagonists in the new film besides Kaecilius. Although Kaecilius proves to be a worthy adversary for Doctor Strange, there may be more in store.
According to Cinema Blend, fans of the original comic books have been speculating the appearance of an ever greater villain named Dormammu. The character is known as one of Doctor Strange’s most powerful, long-time arch enemies. He is an extra-dimensional god-like being, with power capable of spawning the Satannish.
Dormammu’s entire form is made of pure and raw mystic energy and is virtually indestructible as much as he is immortal. He has the ability to manipulate forces of magic including Doctor Strange’s and the Ancient One’s. He is capable of inter-dimensional astral projection and teleportation, elemental control, and time travel.
‘Doctor Strange’ is an upcoming action-adventure and fantasy film directed by Scott Derrickson and produced by Marvel Studios. It is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures in the United States. It is scheduled to be released on November 4, 2016 and is intended as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Three.
