The upcoming Spider-Man title that’s exclusive to the PlayStation 4 is a highly anticipated game, but very little is known about it, even now. In an effort to clarify a few things prior to launch, the developers have been responding to fans on social media with regards to what they can expect from the game. Among the topics covered is the quick-time events (QTE) and being able to play as Peter Parker.
Most of the conversations surrounding the upcoming web-slinging game has been taking place over at Insomniac Games’ Twitter account. When it was first revealed that players will be able to walk around fictional Manhattan as Spider-Man’s alter ego, there was concern that it was going to be overdrawn and thus boring.
The developers responded by saying that the length of time that players spend as Peter Parker is a matter of perspective. Some might consider it just enough but the most important point is that if the story calls for the switch to happen, it will happen.
Gamers will also appreciate the transition when they realize that Peter actually changes clothes quite often as they switch. As DualShockers notes, one of the most enduring of video game tropes is the fact that characters almost never change their clothing all throughout the game, even those that take place over months or years. In the case of Peter, it’s different because he will be wearing different clothes every time.
When the matter of the QTE was brought up by another user, Insomniac assures players that such scripted events are going to play a minor role in the game. Much of it was already shown during one of the earliest gameplay reveal trailers. For the most part, players will have freedom of motion and by the Spider-Man that they want to be.
