Davos 2017 to attract Chinese representatives, 22 countries unite to establish Global Blockchain Business Council

Davos, Switzerland sees an influx of a huge number of celebrities at this time every year, who come to attend a great event. With up to three thousand representatives across politics, business, academia and media from over one hundred countries attending the World Economic Forum in 2017, the honored guests and diverse representatives have broken past records.

The World Economic Forum is considered as “the highest non-official international forum”, where global political leaders, corporate leaders, non-governmental and society leaders come together to discuss the world economic issues.

According to the relevant reports, the invited honored guests can be classified into 8 types, including the members of forum’s foundation, industries’ leaders, media leaders, politicians, artists, global teenager leaders, global growing start-ups.

The president of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, along with high-level Chinese representatives are attending the event. Well-known state-owned and private Chinese entrepreneurs also are attending the event, including Alibaba Chairman Jack Ma, Wanda Group Chairman Wang Jianlin, Huawei Corporation Chairman Sun Yafang, Innovation Works Chairman Lee Kaifu.

From the fields of culture and education, Tsinghua University principal Qiu Yong, Tsinghua University professor Li Daokui, Peking University professor Lin Yifu, Chinese University of Hong Kong professor Liu Mingkang are also attending the forum.

In addition to Chinese representatives, the WEF also attracts many celebrities from different countries. Here is the list of some of the blockbuster attending guests:

Theresa Mary May, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom – The second female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after Margaret Hilda Thatcher, famous as “Iron Lady”.

United States Secretary of State John Forbes Kerry – American politician, 68th United States Secretary of State, Senator of Massachusetts.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Igor Shuvalov – The government of the Russian Federation has only one First Deputy Prime Minister.

Chair-Managing director of the State Bank of India Arundhati Bhattacharya – She is the first woman to be the Chairperson of State Bank of India and was listed as the 25th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes.

Current Governor of the Bank of Japan Haruhiko Kuroda – Bachelor degree with LLB of Tokyo University and Master degree with Economics of Oxford University, formerly the President of the Asian Development Bank.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer of UK Philip Anthony Hammond – Studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University College, Oxford, formerly Secretary of State for Transport, Secretary of State for Defence, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs.

Germany's Federal Minister of Finance Wolfgang Schäuble – Formerly Helmut Kohl's cabinet, Federal Minister for Special Affairs and Chief of the Chancellery, Federal Minister of the Interior, became Minister of Finance in 2009. Awarded “Best Minister of Finance in Europe” in 2010 by “Financial Times”.

Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) will be formally set up. All stars are lining up

Switzerland is one of most active multilateral diplomatic centers in the world. There are hundreds of international organizations gathered together in Geneva.

Blockchain has been the most popular topic in the fields of global technique and finance after cloud computing. Central banks, government, financial institutions and cross-border enterprises from various countries are actively researching and deploying blockchain technology.

The representatives from 22 countries will unite to establish the global blockchain governance organization: Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC). The GBBC boasts outstanding celebrities and VIP guests, including:

  • Jamie Elizabeth Smith, formerly Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton Secretary of State special assistant – The initiator and spokesperson of GBBC, currently BitFury Chief communications officer.
  • Toomas Hendrik Ilves, former President of Estonia – Fourth President of Estonia from 2006 until 2016, currently is holding a position on the Council on CyberSecurity's Advisory Board.
  • Carl Bildt, Former Prime Minister of Sweden – Carl Bildt was the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Prime Minister of Sweden, and leader of the Moderate Party.
  • Hernando de Soto, International famous economist – Famous property right economist, awarded one of “100 Public Intellectuals” in 2005 by the British “Prospect”.
  • Richard Branson, CEO of Virgin Atlantic Airways – The founder of the Virgin brand, a legendary billionaire, famous as for his principled nonconformity.
  • Uschi Schreiber, Global Vice Chair of Markets & Chair of Global Accounts Committee for EY – Joined EY Australia in 2008, responsible for government and public organizations business.
  • Patrick Byrne, Chief Executive Officer of Overstock – Announced Overstock to accept Bitcoin, turning it into the first large-scale online retailer that accepts Bitcoin.
  • Dr. Wei Wang, Founding Chairman of China Mergers and Acquisitions Association – Famous M&A specialist, president of Chinese museum of finance, founder of GBBC, and consultant of China Blockchain Application Research Center.
