After being photographed together on several occasions for the past months, Dakota Johnson still refuses to discuss her relationship with Chris Martin. Meanwhile, they were both in attendance at the Global Citizen Festival over the weekend, where the actress encouraged women to share their stories directly to her.
Johnson and Martin were first spotted together on a night out back in October 2017. Dating rumors were further ignited when the “Fifty Shades” actress reportedly visited Martin during a concert tour in Argentina the following month. The two would not directly confirm their relationship but they would be continuously seen together in different parts of the world.
Even in Johnson's cover story for Tatler’s November 2018 issue, the actress dodged questions about her relationship with Martin. When the magazine asked about the Coldplay frontman, Johnson only said (via E!), “I'm not going to talk about it. But I am very happy.”
On Sept. 29, Johnson and Martin attended the 2018 Global Citizen Festival at New York City’s Central Park. Martin and his band were in the lineup of performers while Johnson was one of the personalities who used the event’s stage to address sexual assault survivors and other issues of gender equality.
For Johnson’s part, the actress brought out her phone onstage and announced that any woman can call it and leave messages on her voicemail. Her personal mobile number, 212-653-8806, was shown on screen while she encouraged women to share their stories.
“I don’t want to speak. I would rather listen,” Johnson said (via Us Weekly). “I care what you have to say and I want to help you, women and girls around the world, tell your story … I want you to call me and I want you to tell me your story in a voicemail.”
Johnson also encouraged women to send messages through the email address [email protected]. “I want you to tell me what you’ve gone through as a woman or a girl in the world that’s been suffering,” the actress added.
The actress announced that a team of translators will be available for callers who speak a different language. Johnson also warned pranksters who would leave her threats, saying, “We have a team for that, too.”
Johnson promised to compile the stories she will receive with help from Global Citizen. “I’m gonna get them heard so that I can amplify your voice. And together I think we can achieve a world where she is equal,” the actress said.
