The latest patch for “Cyberpunk 2077” is now live with a host of bug fixes on all platforms. But it is a more important update for PC gamers, especially those with graphics cards that support AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution upscaling technology.
“Cyberpunk 2077” patch 1.61 went live on Wednesday with the addition of AMD FSR 2.1 support as one of the biggest additions to the game. PCs with graphics cards that support AMD FSR 2.1 should now see a new Resolution Scaling option from the Graphics Settings following the “Cyberpunk 2077” update.
AMD FSR 2.1 allows supported games to render at a lower resolution and then use its upscaling algorithm “to deliver similar or better than native image quality.” This enables the game to run at higher frame rates, while PC users get to play “Cyberpunk 2077” as if it is rendering at a high fidelity at the same time.
Like most “Cyberpunk 2077” patches, version 1.61 delivers a list of Quest, and Open World fixes. CD Projekt Red also addressed several platform-specific bugs, including an issue on Google Stadia that prevented the game from being paused when the gameplay is suspended.
It is quite a nice gesture from CD Projekt Red to continue supporting the Stadia version of the game even after Google announced the service is shutting down in early 2023. The move makes sense, though, as the developer previously released a guide on how Stadia players can download their saved files on “Cyberpunk 2077” using Google Takeout.
The patch notes also indicate that cross-progression saves from Xbox One consoles should now transfer to PC or PlayStation following this week’s “Cyberpunk 2077” update. The developer also addressed an issue on PC that prevented players from getting Epic Games achievements even after completing the requirements.
“Cyberpunk 2077” has had a great year in 2022 after surpassing 20 million copies sold last September. Developers also celebrated an increase in concurrent players on PC, which coincided with the release of the well-received Netflix animated series “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.”
While CD Projekt Red continues to support the game, the studio has now dedicated resources to work on the long-awaited “Cyberpunk 2077” expansion called “Phantom Liberty”, launching next year. However, the expansion will not be available on PS4 and Xbox One due to their hardware limitations. The company also confirmed the RPG is getting a sequel, but a release timeline is still unknown.
