There has been a recent shakeup with regards to “Cyberpunk 2077” with its creative director recently joining Blizzard. While there have been no announcements on the matter, the CD Projekt Red veteran did update his LinkedIn profile to reflect his new employment status. This particular development has spawned rumors of poaching and provided hints with regards to the game’s progress.
As PC Gamer reports, Sebastian Stepien has been a long-time veteran of CD Projekt Red, with the executive having been with the company since 2006. He has taken on roles as head writer and creative director, and was a major driving force behind massive titles like “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.” He also had a big creative role in “Cyberpunk 2077.” His departure, therefore, has been a cause of grave concern.
What’s even more worrying is the fact that there has been no official word about this development. Was Stepien poached? Did he leave on his own accord? What about his work on “Cyberpunk 2077?” These are questions that fans are currently asking.
For the most part, however, it’s worth pointing out that Stepien has been involved in many of the Polish studio’s biggest titles. As such, it’s safe to say that his work ethic is no less solid than those who have been with CD Projekt Red for a long time. With this being the case, it can be assumed that his work on “Cyberpunk 2077” might actually be finished.
This then hints at the progress of the game’s development. If the person behind the narrative of “Cyberpunk 2077” has already left, the title’s story might already be done. From there, one might speculate that the only thing left is for the developers to iron out the remaining bugs. If this is the case, it’s quite possible for the release date of the game to be announced this year or even launch in 2020.
