“Cyanide & Happiness” is an internet sensation that presents dark themes and serious topics through the lens of humor. Its irreverent approach is a bit like the animated series “South Park,” which has earned it quite the following. Now, the creators of this property have revealed a battle royale game based on the IP. Called “Rapture Rejects,” it’s an awesome addition to the growing genre.
As Polygon points out, 2018 seems to be the year when every developer, both major and indie, are jumping on the battle royale bandwagon. However, the latest people to do so were so unexpected the surprise is quite fitting for their reputation. “Rapture Rejects” is basically a game that follows the established battle royale formula, but with a biblical apocalypse theme.
Those who were left behind after the rapture must kill each other until only one remains. At that point, this character will ascend to heaven. As reasons for murdering dozens of people go, this game seems to have captured a depth that none of the others have, so far.
What’s more, unlike other battle royale games, “Rapture Rejects” is a top-down, isometric title with cartoonish designs. This promises a ton of fun that also offers a refreshing change from all the “Fortnites” and “PUBGs” in the market. Watching the reveal trailer of the game should make this clear enough.
The game’s Steam page also offers more details as to what can be expected from this title. Much like other video games of its kind, players will be scrounging for resources and supplies. The goal is to basically show God how committed the character is to get into heaven by slaughtering everyone else.
Anyone interested in signing up for the Alpha experience can do so via by filling out this form. The official release date of the game has not been announced, but it should be within 2018.
