EDITOR’S NOTE: PayStream Advisors will host a webinar on the state of global e-Invoicing on August 1. Anna Barnett, an author of the PayStream report, and Markus Hornburg, Coupa vice president of global product compliance, will be the featured guests.
SAN MATEO, Calif., July 25, 2017 -- Coupa Software (NASDAQ:COUP), a leader in cloud-based spend management, announced today that the company has been named “one of today’s leading global AP automation providers” in the “2017 Global AP Automation Report” by PayStream Advisors. The report notes that companies should leverage proven global accounts payable (AP) automation providers, such as Coupa, to streamline and simplify their AP processes and invoicing compliance for domestic and international B2B transactions.
The adoption of a global AP solution, the report cites, should not only help get rid of paper and manual-based processes, but it should create a partnership between the company and a knowledgeable solution provider—such as a provider with enough resources to enable compliant international invoicing. Moreover, automation should not stop with electronic invoicing itself, but entail a holistic approach to AP.
“Given the complexity of global compliance and potential for fines, PayStream recommends that an organization’s compliance or audit teams be involved when evaluating AP solutions,“ said Anna Barnett, research associate at PayStream Advisors. “This will reduce the risk of selecting a non-compliant invoice solution.”
The report provides researched-based insights into invoicing, AP automation, and regulatory compliance for organizations. This information is important because failure to comply with local regulations and tax laws can result in fines for organization. However, there is often confusion regarding what constitutes invoicing compliance in different areas, even among companies that have been operating globally for many years. For example, many large multinationals store excessive amounts of paper to show evidence of compliance, and either outsource or build large internal teams to manage shifting requirements in each region.
Today, many countries strictly regulate financial processes, particularly in the area of B2B invoicing and payments, according to the report. However, legal and tax regulations can vary dramatically across national borders—or even between member states of larger regions, such as countries in the relatively standardized European Union.
“Digitization efforts around business spend must start with regulatory compliance in mind. After all, if you can’t pass stringent compliance audits with your selected solution then why bother starting in the first place,” said Donna Wilczek, vice president strategy and product marketing at Coupa. “We’ve designed our invoice compliance as a service offering with a prescriptive approach for a given country’s requirements both now and as those requirements change. This enables our customers to have the advanced capabilities they need to help them reduce operational costs and comply with local and global regulations.”
To learn more about the state of global e-Invoicing and regulatory compliance, Coupa recommends attending a webinar hosted by PayStream Advisors titled: “Ensuring International Business Success: How To Build Compliant and Efficient Global AP Processes.” Webinar speakers include: Anna Barnett, an author of the PayStream report, and Markus Hornburg, Coupa vice president of global product compliance.
