Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan have finished filming for “Outlander” season 4. Now, a recent report revealed that one of their basic must-haves on the production set is, unsurprisingly, a supply of coffee.
Cartermatt reported on Sunday that Balfe and Heughan — the lead actors portraying Claire and Jamie Fraser, respectively — are coffee lovers, especially during the long hours they spend filming “Outlander.” Other cast members such as Cesar Domboy and Ed Speleers like coffee as well.
Speleers reportedly likes having green tea on set as well. The English actor is going to be the face of chaos in “Outlander” season 4. Recalling what happened in Diana Gabaldon’s “Drums of Autumn,” Speleers’s Stephen Bonnet will give Balfe’s and Heughan’s characters hell in the upcoming TV series installment.
Like Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, their fellow “Outlander” cast members reportedly have their own on-set necessities as well. These include warm coats, their phones, as well as Wi-Fi connection.
Apart from the material on-set necessities, the same report noted that Balfe, Heughan and other cast members appreciate having a “great crew.” They reportedly maintain a good ambiance while on the set because the cast and crew get along so well. Filming can be exhausting but the cast and crew are purportedly still able to “have some fun," thanks to the "natural" rapport among the cast and crew.
Heughan and Balfe have shown their appreciation to the crew members they have worked with even in the earlier years of “Outlander.” Back in 2015, Heughan expressed how “helpful” it was for him to have a crew that’s mostly from Scotland as well.
“To film in Scotland was really important. I’m from this country, so are the crew,” Sam Heughan told Indiewire. “We’re bringing our identity to the show, through the craft we provide, the music, the language we speak.”
Caitriona Balfe also talked about the bond built among the cast and crew, especially during the filming of “Outlander” season 1. “It was new for all of us. We had all started on this journey together. It was so fresh, and that bond you’ll never really get again,” Balfe previously told Variety.
