Burger King Italia has set out on an important investment for environmental sustainability, which is very crucial today. The fast-food chain has a goal of reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions not only to make the environment in its restaurants better for customers and staff but also to do its part in tackling climate change.
Burger King Italia is committed to adopting innovative technologies to reach its sustainability goal thus it chose to team up with Enerbrain, a company that has been optimizing energy consumption for air conditioning, improving environmental comfort, and reducing CO2 emissions.
According to the daily news and information portal Distribuzione Moderna, the partnership between Burger King Italia and Enerbrain began when two of its restaurant outlets secured the services of the latter for energy efficiency intervention. This project was extended to the BK Italia parent company so more branches were added to the list.
Last year, Enerbrain installed its sustainability system in 11 Burger Kings in the country. Three restaurants that are still under construction will also be fitted with Enerbrain's technology to save on energy and cut carbon emissions.
The energy solution company's program includes the installation of a complete monitoring and management system of Burger King Italia's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). It will also manage the other utilities in the stores such as the kitchen, lights, and signages.
Its technology is effective because its system blends the power of artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud computing. Enerbrain calculates the carbon emission level, electricity consumption, and air pollution then activates the appropriate program to lower the numbers.
"Enerbrain has started a journey with Burger King Restaurants Italy in 2019 through a pilot project capable of highlighting how its solution could strongly reduce consumption related to the second largest item of expenditure after cooking," Alternativa Sostenibile quoted Enerbrain's chief executive officer, Giuseppe Giordano, as saying with regards to its collaboration with Burger King Italia. "In addition to the implementation of the intelligent regulation system, Burger King Restaurants Italia has adopted the Energy Management System of Enerbrain to be able to manage the consumption of all the users of its restaurants and not just the CDZ component.
