TiNDLE, a chicken meat alternative made from plants, was launched by Nex Gen Foods in the United States after raising a record-breaking $100 million funding. Starting Tuesday, Feb. 15, the TiNDLE plant-based will be available in leading restaurants across the country via Goldbelly, a curated marketplace for gourmet food and food gifts.
Betting on its high-growth momentum in Asia, where it was introduced less than two years ago, Singapore-based Nex Gen Foods has officially entered the North American market for its faux chicken through collaborations with online marketplaces and local high-end restaurants.
As per Food Navigator, Nex Gen Foods has plans to expand TiNDLE in the coming months by adding more U.S. cities to its list of outlets. Austin is one of the states being eyed by the company, and there are areas that may take longer before the TiNDLE plant-based chicken arrives, so for the meantime, interested consumers may try the product through Chef Chad Rosenthal's Motel Fried Chicken storefront on Goldbelly.
Nex Gen Foods' chief executive officer and co-founder Andre Menezes said that chefs are loving its TiNDLE plant-based chicken product. For this success, he gives big credit to the company's technical team that developed the kind of vegan alternative that provides what chefs and common customers want and love.
"There is no question that the United States is home to some of the best food cities on the planet and we are excited to bring TiNDLE to this market and hear what consumers think," the CEO further said in a separate press release. "The U.S. has long been a target market for us, and thanks to our lineup of fantastic investors who have participated in this funding round, this is only the beginning of our journey in delivering delicious and sustainable foods to reverse our climate crisis."
Meanwhile, the executive chef at San Francisco's BAIA restaurant, Joshua Yap, attested that TiNDLE plant-based chicken is indeed an excellent product. He said that he is a non-vegan chef but was very impressed with the meat alternative. "I can definitely vouch that this product is very close to mimicking the flavor and texture of chicken. TiNDLE opens up a large window for chefs, vegan or not, to play with and create new recipes in their kitchens," the chef said.
